The Hoist Score
Built from your three heaviest lifts
Hoist takes your best set on the squat, bench press and deadlift, estimates a one-rep max for each from the weight and reps you logged, and runs the total through the DOTS formula against your bodyweight and sex. What comes out is one number that compares your strength today to your strength in March, at a different bodyweight, in different rep ranges.
Each lift also carries a tier of its own, measured as a ratio of your bodyweight: beginner starts at half your weight on the squat, elite sits at two and a half times it. The bar you are chasing is your own, so a 62 kg lifter and a 105 kg lifter are held to the same standard.
Nothing is estimated for you before you have earned it. Log two sessions and Hoist shows you two sessions, with the trend left blank until there is enough to draw one.
Overall tier Intermediate
Example figures. The app fills this from your own logged sets, and leaves a lift blank until you have trained it.
Inside the app
Five tabs, and each one has a job
Train
The session screen. Weight and reps per set, your last working weights already filled in, a rest timer that starts when you confirm a set, and plate maths for what goes on the bar.
Plan
Your routines. Build them yourself or start from a template, reorder exercises, and know what the next session holds before you leave the house.
Progress
The score, your tier per lift, personal records and the curve of each lift over time. This is the part of Hoist that makes the weeks add up.
History
Every session you have logged, kept in full. Volume per muscle group, what you actually lifted that day, and the record of how you got here.
Profile
Bodyweight, units, rest defaults, app lock, and an optional training buddy who sees your score and tier if you invite them.
Free and Pro
The tracker is free, the deeper layer is paid
Free, with no ads
Log every workout, run the rest timer, keep your full history, build routines, and watch your Hoist Score and tier climb. There is no ad anywhere in Hoist and no cap on how much you log.
Hoist Pro
- Progression suggestions per lift, from double progression and your logged RPE
- Plateau detection that names the lift and the weeks it stalled
- Long term charts, per muscle group volume and the full record list
- Plate maths and advanced rest tools
- Sync across your own devices
The progression engine is arithmetic on your own sets, not a language model writing advice. The same data gives the same suggestion twice, and it works with the phone in flight mode.
Your data
Training data stays on the phone
What never leaves the device
Sessions, sets, weights, routines, bodyweight, records and your score are files in the app's own storage. No account, no upload, and uninstalling takes them with it.
What we do see
A random install ID with anonymous events for how the onboarding and paywall are used, and an anonymous purchase ID from RevenueCat that tells the app whether Pro is active. Neither carries a name or your training.
